WHY JOIN THE PTO?

What Every Parent Should Know

​

Researchers have been studying the effects parent attitudes and actions have on their children's academic success for more than 30 years. The results have been consistent. Anne Henderson and Nancy Berla summed it up in their book A New Generation of Evidence: The Family Is Critical to Student Achievement, which reviewed the existing research: "When parents are involved in their children's education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better."

Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education, the children are more likely to:

  • earn better grades.

  • score higher on tests.

  • pass their classes.

  • attend school regularly.

  • have better social skills.

  • show improved behavior.

  • be more positive in their attitude toward school.

  • complete homework assignments.

  • graduate and continue their education.

Membership Has Its Privileges

By joining the PTO, your family members are able to come into the school to volunteer in for various PTO sponsored events. Your support helps fund a number of programs, assemblies, activities & items for the students throughout the year.

Children of PTO members will receive first consideration for events where space is limited, examples include: Family Fun Nights, Theater Week, Talent Show, etc.  Membership also provides access to PTBOARD which includes our online member directory.

Membership registration is only accessible online.

After you become member you will also be able to join the 2024-2025 Cucinella PTO Facebook Page where you can stay up to date with all the current PTO sponsored activities and events.

Top Reasons to Join the Cucinella PTO
​

  • STAY INFORMED: Be “in the know” on what’s going on at Cucinella, not just in the classroom but in the WT school district as well.

  • MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD: It’s a forum to discuss or share concerns about what is happening in our school.

  • CONNECT WITH OTHER PARENTS: Great opportunity to meet some talented and dedicated parents.

  • FLEXIBILITY: You don’t have to volunteer for everything.  Help out when you can. If you work full-time, it’s hard to feel involved with/connected to your child’s school, especially since so many activities & events are during the day. PLUS, Most PTO membership meetings are at 7pm.

  • SET A GOOD EXAMPLE: By being involved in your child’s school, you are showing your child the importance of both education and volunteerism. 

  • MAKE OUR SCHOOL BETTER: It can be hard work, but it is also incredibly rewarding … and a lot of fun!
